A board or assembled electronic module need a functional test typically defined by a design specification. There’s the need to simulate the real operation of the board under test, power it, supply the stimuli to execute the required measurements and automatically collect all the statistical data. A functional test system is a flexible structure which, properly configured, can be used to characterize several kinds of boards.
Seica has always given particular importance to functional test requirements, designing and developing an “open platform” capable of implementing either proprietary or third-party hardware and software modules.
Seica has created a full suite of stimuli and measurement tools, matrices, power supplies as well as a powerful software environment; the platform can also integrate external instrumentation and even manage the complete system using an off the shelf commercial test software package.
The substantial benefit of using Automatic Test Equipment (ATE) for functional test, as opposed to a “rack and stack” custom test bench, is the reliability and maintainability of a platform manufactured, documented and supported by an external supplier. Integrated diagnostic tools, calibration readiness, resident data collection, scalability and professional application and service support by the manufacturer are all factors to include in the cost analysis of functional test.
Thanks to the complete configurability of its platform, Seica can offer different solutions depending on the requirement: three general categories could be:
- standard platform for commercial applications (Strategy line)
- platform for “customized applications” (automotive, rail,… ) (Strategy line)
- platform for “special applications” (military, avionics, … ) (Valid line)
